Rumi Reflects Peace, Love in Islamic Framework

Tehran, October 2-- Notions of peace and love as reflected by the poems of the great master of Persian literature are the subjects of a new documentary entitled "Rumi Turning Ecstatic."
According to CHN, in a brand new documentary made for television, "Rumi - Turning Ecstatic," Tina Petrova reveals why the words of a 13th century Iranian Muslim poet are also crucial for peace on the planet today.

For Tina Petrova, it all started when she drove off a cliff. A death-defying car crash was the beginning of a journey that would lead her to the writings of an extraordinary Sufi Mystic - Molana Jalalledin Rumi.

Rumi has outsold Shakespeare for the past two decades in the English language. From runway shows, to Hollywood gurus recording his poetry (Deepak Chopra - Gift of Love) with Demi Moore, Martin Sheen, Debra Winger, Goldie Hawn and Rosa Parks, to music videos and an interest in a feature film about his life by legendary director Oliver Stone. Rumi's message of 'one love' is out to redefine the world and with it - Islam.

"Rumi - Turning Ecstatic" received its broadcast premiere January 18th, 2006 on Vision TV. Since then, it has received television, print and media coverage from around the world including a 4-Star review from the San Francisco Chronicle.

In recognition of Rumi's contribution to the world of literature and his outspoken advocacy for peace, tolerance and unity in diversity, UNESCO will be honoring the life and times of this great Iranian literary and historical figure in its member countries in 2007, as "The International Year of Rumi."

During UNESCO's Year of Rumi in 2007, "Rumi Turning Ecstatic" will be programmed around the world at universities and live event screenings over the entire year.
