This recently released docudrama, co-produced by Tina Petrova
and Stephen Roloff, features Petrova as storyteller of her own true story in discovering
the 13th century Sufi visionary-mystic-poet, Mevlana Jellaludin Rumi, after a near-fatal
auto accident. Based in Canada, Tina takes us on her road trip of modern mysticism into
the southern California deserts and the Muslim and Sufi worlds of the Middle East.
Featuring popular Rumi translator Coleman Barks and other well-known Rumi adepts and
vision keepers, this film is a simple and moving personal account by a sincere spiritual
seeker who felt she was led to make this journey and take audiences with her. The "Turning
Ecstatic" part of the story deals not only with how life can miraculously turn around from
tragedy into ecstasy, but also how the whirling dervishes' "turning" dance marks an
important Sufi ritual, a meditation-in-motion that can "take you there". With a hauntingly
beautiful soundtrack, Visionary Media's award-winning producers have made an exceptional
short film (running time of 48 minutes) that is sure to whet the appetite for more Rumi;
we'll certainly be awaiting the sequel. For more information visit www.rumi-turningecstatic.com.
