“Dec.
17 has long been a day of celebration in Middle Eastern countries,
where Rumi is recognized as a visionary peacekeeper and environmentalist
who promoted tolerance, compassion and understanding between people
of all backgrounds and beliefs. It is held sacred as the anniversary
of Rumi's passing, widely known as his "Wedding Day."
“Rumi - Turning Ecstatic ...
is a labour of love for producers Tina Petrova and Stephen Roloff.
The film retraces Petrova's spiritual journey over the past five
years - an experience that began with a tragic car crash, and
ended with the wondrous discovery of Rumi and the many scholars
around the world who illuminate his words and his works today.”
[EDITOR’S NOTE: The
film had it’s
world premier in Toronto. In addition to its dramatic interfaith
message, it is a visually stunning production.
It will air on VisionTV Wednesday, Jan. 18, 10:00 pm EST, and Thursday,
Jan. 19, 11:00 pm EST.]
RUMI: TURNING ECSTATIC – IN
PETERBOROUGH
Saturday, December 17, 7:00 pm, Wenjack
Theatre, Trent University. Admission: $10.00. Also showing: RUMI:
POET OF THE HEART"
“In
December 1997, Tina Petrova drove off a cliff - both literally
and figuratively. A tragic car crash in the California desert
was the beginning of a journey that would lead her to the extraordinary
works of the 13th century Sufi Mystic Mevlana Jellaludin Rumi,
and to a remarkable array of people whose lives have been transformed
by his poetry and teachings. Rumi, named by Time Magazine as Mystic
of the Century, has outsold Shakespeare in the English language
for ten years running. His seminal "Mathnawi" is
considered second only to the Qur’an in many Middle Eastern
countries. The profound central messages of Rumi's teaching resonate
powerfully with people of all faiths. Rumi: Turning Ecstatic takes
the viewer into the very heart of Sufi mysticism. “ |
